Incorporation of an adamantyl group – with its peculiar lipophilicity, steric demand, dispersion attraction, conformational stability and rigidity – into polymers and functional materials is known to significantly improve their solubility and thermal stability, as well as other physico-chemical properties. The group of Professor Lutz Ackermann from the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen (Germany) has now reported a new convenient method for achieving the incorporation of an adamantly unit into azoles.
