A Novel Approach to Diarylated Esters and Phosphonates

Palladium-Catalyzed Hydroarylation of Diazocarboxylates and Diazophosphonates: S. M. Golitsin, I. P. Beletskaya, I. D. Titanyuk
Synthesis 2019, DOI: 10.1055/s-0039-1690758

The group of Dr. Igor Titanyuk from Moscow State University (Russian Federation) has previously reported a palladium-catalyzed hydroarylation of diazoacetic ester. Continuing research on this methodology in the group has recently led to the expansion of its scope for the hydroarylation of α-diazocarboxylates or α-diazophosphonates, leading to diarylated esters and phosphonates, respectively.

Dr. Titanyuk said: “Cross-coupling of diazo compounds with aryl iodides makes hardly accessible diarylated carboxylic acid and phosphonic acid derivatives available now!”
