Science of Synthesis Knowledge Updates – New Volume Editor

Professor Stephen Marsden to be Volume Editor for updating of SOS Volume 26: Ketones.

We are delighted to bring you the news that Professor Stephen Marsden is the new Science of Synthesis Updates Editor responsible for the content on ketone synthesis.

Professor Marsden is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Leeds, UK. Prior to this, he was a Senior Lecturer at Imperial College (London) and has also undertaken post-doctoral research at Columbia University (USA) in the group of Professor Samuel Danishefsky. His research interests include the development of new catalytic methods and target synthesis of bioactive molecules. Click here to learn more about his work and recent publications.

Volume 26 of Science of Synthesis covers transformations for forming compounds containing the ketone functional group. The original volume was published in 2005 (Volume Editor: Professor Janine Cossy) and is organized based on general strategies for preparing aliphatic/alicyclic ketones (e.g., by oxidation), as well as subchapters on particular subclasses of ketones (α-heterosubstituted ketones, ynones, aryl ketones, etc.). Professor Marsden was also a contributing author to the original volume, with the chapter on enones.
