Science of Synthesis Knowledge Updates – New Volume Editor

Professor Elena Fernandez To Continue as Science of Synthesis Editor for Organoboron Chemistry

Following on from her role as editor of the recent Science of Synthesis Reference Library Volume Advances in Organoboron Chemistry towards Organic Synthesis, we are very happy to inform you that Prof. Elena Fernández will be continuing her association with Thieme Chemistry by acting as editor for future content on aspects of organoboron chemistry for the Science of Synthesis Knowledge Updates.

Prof. Fernández, of the University Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain, obtained her PhD at the University of Barcelona (with Prof. S. Castillón and Prof. A. Ruiz), before undertaking a postdoctoral position at Oxford University with Prof. John M. Brown investigating asymmetric hydroboration/amination reactions. She is now Full Professor at the University Rovira i Virgili, where her group’s research focuses on the use of borane reagents in the selective synthesis of multifunctional compounds. Find out more about Prof. Fernández  here.

Advances in Organoboron Chemistry towards Organic Synthesis (toc) was published in 2019 and featured a series of chapters reviewing important recent developments in the area of organoboron activation and reactivity. The introduction to this book can be found here. Prof. Fernández will now be supplementing this by overseeing future content in the general area of developments in organoboron chemistry, with the focus on updates to the original volume in the Science of Synthesis series (Vol. 6) on this topic. Volume 6 of Science of Synthesis, Boron Compounds (Volume Editor: Prof. D. E. Kaufmann), was published in 2005 and systematically covered significant methods for the synthesis and applications of various classes of organoboron compounds.
