Congratulations to the SYNTHESIS and SYNLETT Best Paper Award Winners 2019!
André B. Charette for SYNTHESIS and Phil S. Baran for SYNLETT, together with their co-authors, are the recipients of the 2019 Best Paper Awards.
It is our great pleasure to announce that the SYNTHESIS Best Paper Award 2019 is being awarded to André B. Charette and co-workers at Université de Montréal (Canada) for their paper Enantioselective Synthesis of cis- and trans-Borocyclopropylmethanol: Simple Building Blocks To Access Heterocycle-Substituted Cyclopropylmethanols.
In announcing the award, Paul Knochel, Editor-in-Chief of SYNTHESIS, indicated that the selection committee was impressed by the important methodology study on several levels, including the high synthetic interest of the products, the elegant enantioselective method, the extensive potential applications, and the engaging composition and presentation of the study.

We are delighted to announce that the SYNLETT Best Paper Award 2019 is being awarded to Phil S. Baran and co-workers for their article Electrochemical C(sp3)–H Fluorination. The work was a joint effort between laboratories at The Scripps Research Institute in the USA and industrial companies in Ukraine, China and Japan.
Benjamin List, Editor-in-Chief of SYNLETT, noted: “This is a truly outstanding paper in which the authors apply electrochemistry as a rising technology to activate aliphatic C–H bonds, delivering highly important fluorinated molecules. In addition, the method is scalable, has a very large scope, and can be applied to late-stage functionalizations of pharmaceuticals and natural products. Awesome work!”
