This Young Career Focus presents Birgit Esser (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Germany). Birgit Esser was born in Heidelberg (Germany) and obtained both her Diploma and PhD degrees from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. She spent several years (2009-2012) as a postdoctoral fellow in the research group of Tim Swager at the MIT (USA). Since April 2012 she has been an independent research group leader at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (Germany) focusing on the development of functional organic materials for batteries and optoelectronic devices.
